ICE Lake Trout Trip... N. MN with Outdoor Allure

Postby CrappieMagnet on Tue Feb 19, 2008 9:53 am

Here is the Lake Trout Trip... in N. MN with Outdoor Allure.
Fellow Catch-ers,
We arrived at Outdoor Allure about 11:am... and right away went to put our geat into the "bunk-house".
Wow what a GREAT place to hold a get-together! We will have to use this place come next October for the fall SM Bass trip in 2008.
This place will sleep about 12 people.. which is just perfect... and look that this place... it is well furnished and very clean.... GREAT!

Thereare some good looking mounts and the kitchen is loaded... coffee maker, stove & fridge, microwave, plates, silverware, etc... has a tub and shower.

A short walk and you are in the Outdoor Allure store... which is packedto the ceiling with all the outdoor items you may be fooking for. It is one of the BEST stocked shops I have seen.
Look at this...

nice shop, eh!

Joe Harner who works at Outdoor Allure got us hooked-up with the right jigs, rods/line, and told us how to jig to intice the trout.
The owner Craig Putchat took the time off on to accompany Smitty and I out to his fishing spot... where he taught us many on his tips on fishing Lakers.

Smitty and I made our holes far enough from Craig so that our lures could "circle" without any tangles... Smitty chose to use his snomobile as a seat. This keeps your feet up and off the ice.

The ice got covered in inches of water... I removed the slush so we could see the fish coming up. The ice was just like looking thru glass!

We had a blast catch'n these Lakers... and plan to return for the Coho run come March.
What a GREAT trip.
I learned a ton... and had ton of FUN!

Just as I thought! You guy's were having way too much fun! Now you had to go and get me pumped for some ice fishing for laker's! Something I used to do a lot of. Mostly on the NW arm of Pipestone Lake in Ontario, just north of the town of Emo. Seriously I'm glad to see that you and Smitty got in on a great trip. I'm just jealous anyway. I hope you have a few brownie point's left with Mrs Hoggie just in case the opportunity arise's to pay a visit to Father Walleye. Better get after the "honey-do" list, just in case! DIRTBALL2

Because of a recent fishing contest, a bunch of Lakers have been released into the Foster Arhens lake (pit pond) here in Rochester. Some have been real line breakers.

It is about 5 hours up if I drive... for Smitty, he could get there in 4 1/2 (cause he don't drive like an old GRANDMA like I do).

troutman72, you would be welcome to ride up with me... pleny of room in my van. That is if the timeing works for you. I'll be happy to split the gas and would welcome the conversation. If Smitty goes we'll take a trailer with two otters and a snomobile. There is room for another Otter in the back of my van... and it still would seat 4.
